HUNTING AT BATTLE CREEK

Battle Creek Ranch, nearly 12,000 acres, is a working cattle ranch in the heart or southwestern Montana and is in the area referred to as the "Sixteen Country" in Ivan Doig's best selling book, "This House of Sky".  We, as owners of this particular land, have not tried to change its demanding nature or its colorful history.  We have maintained it as a working cattle ranch over the years and have done all that we can to preserve its rustic beauty. Battle Creek Ranch is a part of that history featuring a rustic, though very comfortable, "hand hewn" log home nearly 100 years old.  Also a bunk house, barns, outbuildings and corrals still serviceable and still used.  

We are located at 6000' in elevation, but we are not in the forest.  It is open mountainous country and this makes it great to go riding cross country.  We are not far from the treed areas, and we do often ride to and through them, giving us special opportunities to view wildlife.  When in the open, you can view very long distances, and when we move cattle, it is somewhat easier than chasing them through the trees.  We have been getting ready for our guests in 2000, and have some brand new log sleeping cabins providing you more room and privacy.  

There are a surprising number of activities that can be done on the ranch in the summer.  As a working cattle ranch, you are welcome to help in all aspects you feel comfortable in doing.  Wandering off to fish many of the creeks and streams of the area continues to be one of the favorites.  The area offers many photographic opportunities, horseback riding, feeding/tending cattle, 4 x 4 sightseeing, natural hot springs soaks, and of course, just hanging out and relaxing.  There are also many activities that youngsters may enjoy.  This is a great place for families!  We invite you to come visit and enjoy our hospitality.
